Overview

Tushabe Sylivia Byarugaba holds a Master’s degree in Hospitality and Tourism Management from Makerere University, a Postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration of Uganda Management Institute and a Bachelor’s degree in Catering and Hotel Management of Makerere University.  She is currently studying her Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Business Administration by Research from Kabale University. Tushabe started her academic career as lecturer in 2007, in the Department of Hotel Management at YMCA Kampala Branch where she worked for 13 years. In 2019, she was appointed as an assistant lecturer in the Department of Tourism and Hospitality Management at Kabale University. She was also appointed and served as the Head of Department Tourism and Hospitality Management, Kabale University from 2019 to 2021.  As a Head of Department she promoted the Tourism and Hospitality programs and students’ enrollment doubled she believes the Department will grow from Glory to Glory basing on the foundation she laid. She spearheaded curriculum review of all programs in the department and three (3) programs we re-accredited by National council for Higher Education (NCHE) all these are now skilling Programs. These are Diploma in Tourism and Hospitality Management, Bachelors of Tourism and Hospitality Management and Diploma Hotel Management. She participated in the curriculum development of Bachelors of Catering and Hospitality Management and Masters in Tourism Management which are still in the process of accreditation by National Council. She is determined to change the Hospitality sector with her contribution through her publications so far her Masters dissertation “Human Capital, Working Environment, Employee Performance and Service Quality in Accommodation Facilities” has been cited by many scholars she believes that skills Development in Hospitality Training Institutions will increase employability of the Hospitality Graduates in the Hospitality sector.
